EMI/RFI Solutions

Managing EMI/RFI is a recurring challenge in electronic systems where circuit components are in close proximity.

EMI/RFI effects can range from a minor impact on signal quality to equipment malfunction. KEMET offers an extensive component selection for both radiated and conduction emissions.

Passing EMC and LVD testing are two of the most critical requirements before a product enters mass production

Poor power filtering is a leading cause of non-compliance and can dramatically delay product launch and increase design cost, making it a crucial part of any design, from consumer applications, to life-saving medical devices and mission-critical defense technology. KEMET offers a wide range of EMI suppression capacitors and filters to address those critical design issues for many types of applications.

KEMET EMI-RFI filters cover single-phase or three-phase requirements with a wide variety of characteristics. These filters are optimized for conduction noise and their input/output terminals can be screw, Faston, lead wire, PCB mount, or inlet-solder terminal type.

CAS SMD X1/Y2 and X2 SFTY 250 VAC Series

KEMET Electronics CAS Series Safety-Certified SMD X1/Y2 and X2 250VAC Capacitors are specifically designed for interference-suppression AC line filtering applications. When compared to radial leaded disc capacitors, the CAS surface-mount form factors provide engineers the ability to miniaturize their designs with a higher density solution. These capacitors offer internationally recognized safety certifications, making them well suited for applications that require keeping potentially disruptive or damaging line transients and EMI out of susceptible equipment. They are also an ideal solution when line disturbances need to be suppressed at the source.

These safety capacitors offer a working voltage of 250VAC in line-to-line (Class X) and 250VAC in line-to-ground (Class Y) applications as well as meet the impulse test criteria outlined in IEC Standard 60384. These devices meet subclass X1 and Y2 requirements and are certified to withstand impulses up to 5KV (X1/Y2) and 2.5KV (X2), respectively.

Features & benefits

  • Safety certified to IEC 60384-14; RoHS compliant
  • Class X1/Y2 and X2; 250VAC rating (Industrial Grade)
  • 2.5kV and 5kV impulse voltages
  • Reliable operation up to 125°C
  • Available in C0G and X7R dielectrics
  • Case sizes 1808, 1812, 2211, and 2220
  • Capacitance offerings range from 3.0pF to 22nF
  • Available capacitance tolerances from ±0.5pF to ±20%

Applications

  • Primary and secondary coupling (switching power supplies)
  • Line disturbance suppression (motors, motor controls, relays, switching power supplies, and inverters)

KEMET’s safety certified film capacitors are specifically designed for conducted emissions attenuation in AC line filtering applications. The self-healing capability of film capacitors makes them a great choice for safety across power lines as well as having internationally recognized safety certifications. These capacitors are well suited for applications that require keeping potentially disruptive or damaging line transients and EMI out of susceptible equipment.
